First we’d like to thank you for choosing to take the time to volunteer to help our area youth; we also thank you for taking the time to look through these support documents and for your commitment in helping us to make Russellville Youth Baseball Association the best program in the River Valley. We have seen much positive change and support for the program at all levels. It is our belief that this is due to the greatness of the people like you who get involved and due to support received by the city and our community support and sponsors. Additionally, we believe that the success of this program hinges especially on the youth participants in the program. There is no better investment we can make with our time and resources than into developing the youth of Russellville and the greater River Valley area.

One of Russellville Youth Baseball Association’s (RYBA's) primary objectives is to develop well rounded baseball players. Coaches play a critical role in this objective. Although there is no “cookie cutter” approach to coaching, having a uniform player development strategy will enable coaches to appropriately work with players in order to develop age appropriate skills and an age appropriate understanding of the strategies and rules of baseball.

As part of the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA), RYBA makes every effort to adhere to the model established by USSSA’s over 50 years of experience. When considering when is the best time to teach players baseball skills we must acknowledge that yelling out during a game is not the best time to train young baseball players. In addition to the excitement, distractions, and emotions on the field during a game players can become disenfranchised or embarrassed amongst their peers in the face of excessive on the spot correction.

A big part of RYBA’s mission is to promote the growth of baseball at all levels of competition for the Russellville community. The development of sportsmanship, teamwork, honesty, courage, respect for authority, and physical fitness are the organization’s priorities in order to accomplish this mission, we seek to attain the following objectives:

a. To govern the league in a manner that puts the development of our players, as both athletes and persons, above all other considerations.
b. To provide our players with volunteer coaches who work with players of all ability levels and who remember that winning games is secondary to the development of players and to providing our players with positive examples and a positive baseball experience.
c. To provide our players with volunteer coaches who seek to teach those players the rules of the game along with proper baseball fundamentals.
